Summer Storytime Art in the Park Offers More Than Fun

Fun with the Sparkle Truck

The Grinnell College Museum of Art and Drake Community Library are offering free hands-on art and literacy activities for children and families in area parks. Every session will offer drawing, 2- and 3-D collage projects, beading, truck glittering, painting, bookmaking, type-a-thon, and reading activities. A special project — such as ceramics, printmaking, marbling, sewing, wood cutouts, tie-dye, or other activity — will be offered at each session. No registration is necessary. These activities are supported by AmeriCorps, Bayer Crop Science, Grinnell Mutual Group Foundation, and the Grinnell Education Partnership.

The Iowa Kitchen will serve lunch for 40 people on a first-come, first-served basis at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesdays. Middleway Farms will have free produce, and MICA will offer food items to take home as well. This program is supported by grants and support from the Greater Poweshiek Community Foundation/Poweshiek County Alliance and Grinnell Farm to Table.
