Food Drive Success: Thank You, Grinnell!

Thank you to all who provided donations to the Martin Luther King Day food drive, organized by GEP AmeriCorps VISTA members. Because of your generous involvement, MICA received a very large contribution for those in need of food within our community.

Your gifts overflowed the space we had dedicated at the Drake Community Library with MICA's "most-needed" items like snack foods, rice, oatmeal, cereal, and other essentials, and took multiple trips to deliver to the MICA food bank on 4th Street. In addition to just over 1,000 pounds of food, we also received generous cash donations to MICA amounting to nearly $200.

This program would not have been as successful without the power of community. GEP has dedicated much of its work over the past six years to building relationships and strengthening connections across Grinnell and the greater Poweshiek County area. The abundance of our food drive makes evident how much this network can do, even with short timelines and little notice. This collective power makes our community more flexible in meeting our district's needs and more resilient in times of hardship. We thank each and every one of you for being part of this Partnership!
